The Perspectives On The World Christian Movement Course

World Horizons has used the Perspectives course material extensively as part of basic training for our team members. We often encourage candidates to take the course while they are still in the candidacy process. We also encourage those who are considering working with us to help bring the course to their churches as part of the process of mobilization within their own community.

The course is designed to give students a broad overview of missions and looks at four perspectives of the missionary mandate. Over the sixteen weeks of the course about a quarter of the time is devoted to Biblical perspectives on mission. Another quarter of the course is given to historical perspectives. The latter half of the course is divided between cultural and strategic perspectives as such subjects as church-planting, cross-cultural communication, community development and work among unreached peoples are considered.

Students meet together once a week to listen to speakers who come from a diversity of backgrounds. The course work can be taken for college credit and extensive reading backs up the lectures.

World Horizons has helped to facilitate the course in Central Virginia and both Andrew Fuller, the International Director, and Richard Haney, Chairman of the board of World Horizons USA teach on the course.
