World Horizons is a Christian mission organization working among the world’s least reached peoples. Our office in Richmond, Virginia has an open position for a Training Director. This is a support-raised position. The person who will fill this position will not be paid a salary by World Horizons.
World Horizons partners with Hillside Missions Organization to provide an a nine month residential mission training program in Richmond, VA. Internship participants work alongside staff in support of the organization’s projects. Community is important to us. We want to teach interns how to build God-centered community. The 40 hour per week program consists of academic learning and participation in our international projects from the organization headquarters in Richmond, VA.
Interns spend about 15% of their time in classes and the rest working with staff. At the end of the nine month program, interns have the option to participate in a three month externship working with a long-term mission team in an unreached people group area.
The Training Director is responsible for discipleship and administration.
The following outlines the duties and responsibilities of the Training Director Position
Training/Discipleship
Implement a training program with a rotation of volunteer instructors.
The Training Director’s responsibilities in this area will be satisfactorily performed when:
- A holistic and comprehensive curriculum is being properly implemented within the internship program
- A list of qualified teachers is complete and maintained
- A schedule of course work is organized and used
- A reading list is developed for interns
Recruitment
Maintain and grow the internship program by implementing a recruiting strategy.
The Training Director’s responsibilities in this area will be satisfactorily performed when:
- All open intern positions are filled
- A current and active list is maintained of possible future internship participants
- Regular mailings, email blasts, social networking sites are utilized to gain new applicants
Accountability
The Training Director’s responsibilities in this area will be satisfactorily performed when:
- A monthly scheduled meeting to assess interns progress is held
- Each intern has an accountability partner that they are meeting with on a regular basis
- Grades for regular course work during the internship are held to the Director’s standards
Office Tasks
The Training Director’s responsibilities in this area will be satisfactorily performed when:
- All interns understand the specific tasks that they are responsible for maintaining on a rotating basis
- Standards for office participation by interns are being met
Program Graduation Plan
We want to inspire big dreams and a help to develop a plan to fulfill those dreams.
The Training Director’s responsibilities in this area will be satisfactorily performed when:
- Each intern has an externship destination in mind so that focused trip preparation, fundraising, and prayer can begin as quickly as possible
- Each intern, after their externship (or internship if there is no externship) has a plan future ministry
